Overview

Our Commitment

To realize our vision, the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador is committed to playing a facilitative role to improve networking and cohesiveness among policy practitioners working in government, academia and the community sectors. We intend to fulfill this role by hosting and promoting opportunities, both virtual and face-to-face, for information sharing and learning about policy development and analysis techniques. Our ability to fulfill this commitment is dependent on policy practitioners sharing our vision and engaging with others in the pursuit of robust public policy.

Who Are Public Policy Professionals?

Public policy professionals work in government, academia and the volunteer and non-profit sectors and come from a broad range of academic and experiential backgrounds, backgrounds as diverse as public policy itself. They are government executive, policy directors and analysts, economists, lawyers, accountants, statisticians, and consultants and more. For the purposes of PolicyNL, the unifying feature of public policy professionals as a group is that they spend a significant portion of their jobs in the public policy development and decision making process.

PolicyNL is relatively new and is a work in progress. We invite your feedback to enhance this site as resource for policy practitioners in Newfoundland and Labrador and we promise to be responsive to suggestions which fit with our purpose. We are also interested in hearing about the work you are doing in this province which illustrates how we are doing policy and what we are doing to strengthen the policy development process. More importantly, we hope that you will use PolicyNL to share these ideas with each other.
